There
is some more to it than just this. I hope. I’ll dig something up.
Returning
characters
Geoff
Lamp, Monkey Alan, Pete Gibbons...the list stops there, have
all been mentioned, but not seen, previously in the show.
Geoff Lamp and
Monkey Alan are mentioned in the same episode in series 1, being
episode 4. Gareth tells Dawn that a career in paper is worth sticking
with because Geoff Lamp is 42 and has his own Porsche, all from
paper, and also tells her that Monkey
Alan in the warehouse fancies her even if no one else does, in
an attempt to cheer her up after she and Lee have had an argument.
Pete Gibbons
is mentioned at the end of the financial year party, to the extent
that we know he received a really good leaving present whereas
Ricky the temp is getting nothing. Nothing.
From the commentary
The two bits
of trivia we learn from the commentary, are that Julia Davis
provided the voice of the potential date Brent calls when in his
car, and
that the dog’s real name is not Nelson, but Bella. Fascinating?
I think so.
Self–referencing
While Brent
is talking about how he was stitched up, he mentions head-butting
an interviewee, which we see him do in episode 5 of series 1.
Although I reckon most viewers will have remembered that, so
it’s not great trivia.
At the end
of the special, everyone is waiting for the flash light to
come on, which also happens in episode 6 of series 2, where he
is waiting for his photo to be taken by the reporter from Inside
Paper, after he’s just chucked her out of his office.
I think Gervais might have a thing for the little moments we
spend with a fixed grin on our face whenever a posed photo has
to be taken.
Fact
Pound for
pound, lemons DO contain more sugar than strawberries. And
it goes without saying that cows have four stomachs.
That Riddle
When Dawn
reappears at the end of the episode, Brent is telling Gareth
and Tim a riddle, though we don’t quite hear it as the sounds
is largely dedicated to the song and we’re looking at Dawn
coming in. Idiots. Couldn't direct traffic them lot.
Anyway, I’ve looked it up for you, because I’m just that kind
of guy:
A father
and son are in a car accident. They are rushed
to the hospital. The Father dies
on the way, while the son is taken
to the operating room. Later, the doctor
comes in and says: “I
can’t operate on him, because he's my
son.”
How can the doctor be telling the truth?
I do know the answer,
but thought I’d omit it from this page, so you can have fun working
it out. (pretty easy anyway)
One
last thing
Roughly
29 minutes into the episode, Ron Merchant makes his final appearance
in the series. Check the videos page out for the full lowdown!
