Ree’s poem about The Office

The Office

It ended Monday,
Our laughter’s spent.

Just six episodes,
That came and went.
The last buzzword uttered,
The last email sent.

‘Please give us more!’
Our shrill lament.
Series one replayed,
Till the tape is bent.

Is that our lot?
Or will the Beeb relent,
And put us out,
Of our torment?

If not, four million viewers,
Will resent,
And fill their TVs,
With cement.

Our morale will take,
More than a dent,
If that is,
The BBC’s intent.

So bitter-sweet,
The script’s content,
And characters,
Whose hearts were rent.

It was so like life,
You could not invent,
The workplace world,
They represent.

Will we decline,
In sad descent,
Without,
Our motivating gent?

Is he really,
Re-dund-ent?
Or can the writers,
circumvent?

Will we see him living,
In a tent?
Surviving just,
On what he’s lent?

Will Jennifer,
And Neil repent?
And lend us their,
Encouragement?

“Can gays be really,
Ten percent?
It’s legal -
If they both consent!”

If rudeness was,
A field event,
He’d be a winner -
Not a malcontent.

The new guru,
Of management.
The paper industry’s
Clark Kent.

Our anti-hero,
David Brent.
