Series two saw the
Swindon branch merging with the Slough branch, and the introduction
of this load of mentals:
Brenda:
Julie Fernandez
Brenda, often offended
by stuff David says, doesn’t do much else.
Julie Fernandez has a short
TV history, playing Nessa Lockhead, a disabled teenager, in Eldorado
in 1992. Also she played Marty
Dangerfield’s girlfriend Carol in Dangerfield for three episodes
in 1995. She was born on 30 April 1974, in Essex.
Oliver:
Howard Saddler
Oliver, works in accounts,
fancied by Sheila.
Like many of the smaller part’s
actors Howard has had one-off cameo appearances in ‘Holby
City’ and ‘The Bill’ in 2000 and 2001 respectively.
He has also done a lot of work in theatre and on the stage on such
classics as ‘Anthony and Cleopatra’, ‘Caesar’
and ‘Arm and the Man’.
Trudy:
Rachel Isaac
Trudy
is Welsh, a bit of a slapper, and it seems a shame that in such
a fine series as The Office that this description is wholly sufficient
for any of the characters. But it’s the way they edited it all
together, they stitched her up, poor girl.
Trudy had lost a bit of weight in time for the special.
As for Rachel Isaac,
she was in a show called I Saw You, which also
starred
Fay Ripley.
They both played women going after men
or something.
Patrick:
Patrick Driver
Patrick came from Swindon,
and really wasn’t seen doing much in the series, sadly meaning
I have to leave a rather large blank area next to the photo of
him here.
Tony:
Tony MacMurray
It’s a similar story for
Tony. He has a bit of a go at Brent on a couple of occasions.
Not much though.
Tony MacMurray has also appeared
in a few adverts for egg.com, as a guy who had a talking sock
on his hand that told him how to spend money.
He’s also in Steve Merchant’s
BBC training film “Seedy Boss” which was where the show kinda
started, being shown around by Brent. Thanks to Jay for spotting
this!
Rachel:
Stacey Roca
The sexiest of the new colleagues
from Swindon. Rachel caught the eyes of Tim and Gareth, unsurprisingly
taking a shine to Tim and not Gareth. Rachel worked at Swindon
for two years before the offices were merged.
What makes her character important in terms of the series
is that her relationship with Tim leaves Dawn feeling painfully
jealous of him, and it made uncertain
the sense of inevitability that Dawn and Tim would one day end up together.
In the last episode of series 2, Tim dumped Rachel and made an unheard
(we saw but didn’t hear) confession to Dawn.
Like most of the cast of
The Office. Stacey is a relative newcomer. She has previously
appeared in the film Oh Marbella as a holiday rep, and on TV
as Sue, in a program I know nothing else about called Burn
It. She was in The Pet Shop Boy’s stage musical, Closer
to Heaven, as Shell, the album of which you can buy from Amazon here,
and hear her sing!
Stacey is also an intermediate fencer, so watch out for some of that in the
future!
Simon:
Matthew Holness
Ahh. Simon the IT nerd.
Do I have to bother writing about him?
He likes Bruce Lee. There
you go.
Matthew Holness on the other
hand has made his name, or rather made Garth Marenghi’s name
an almost household name. Definitely with anyone who likes comedy-you
know the sort. Always think they’re a bit ahead of the game because
they saw some standup at Jongleurs do a routine about some celebrity
who’s only just died.
Anyway,
Darkplace was an excellent series, entering the fictional world as
created by horror writer Garth Marenghi (are you keeping up?).
I think you’re best off having
a look at this site.
Jude:
Jennifer Hennesey
The female representative
to meet Brent from Cooper and Webb.
Jennifer appears in both
the Paul Calf special thingies.
Ray:
Tom Goodman-Hill
The male representative
to meet Brent from Cooper and Webb.
Tom Goodman-Hill was in BBC2s
People Like Us, as a policeman I think.
